JOIN STUDENTS FOR SCIENCE AND REASON

Membership in CSICOP's Student for Science and Reason Program is free and open to student groups and individuals, university faculty and high school teachers, as well as off-campus supporters and local groups.

You should consider joining SSR if...

You are concerned with the torrent of paranormal and pseudoscientific ideas that are circulating within our societies.
You enjoy stimulating inquiry, exploring unusual phenomena and bizarre claims and joining others in the quest for understanding and reliable knowledge.
You are dismayed by the continued deterioration of science education and object to the propaganda and questionable tactics employed by pseudosciences in pressuring educational institutions and other outlets to sacrifice good science and learning for political agendas.
You believe that science literacy and critical thought is vital to the growth and progress of our global civilization.
You are disturbed by sensationalist media, the increased exposure for paranormal ideas and claims within the media - often unaccompanied by skeptical investigation and viewpoint.
You agree that an open mind is essential but not so open that one's brain falls out.
You are concerned with the exploitation of deep-seated emotional needs by members of the paranormal community.
You are alarmed by those who place their physical and financial welfare in the hands of unsupported ideas and claims.
You subscribe to the premise that the scientific method is the most reliable and self-correcting system for obtaining knowledge about our world.
You are distressed by the many thousands who surrender fundamental decision-making power to the reckless counsel of astrologers, psychics and other occultists.
You are searching for a reliable source of information about what we know about the world and how we know it.
You have no desire to run up your phone bill talking to psychics (unless gathering research for a skeptical investigation!)
You share a sense of wonder in the universe, find the pursuit of science exciting and rewarding and see little need for melding fact with fancy (except in the realm of fiction and the imagination!)
You want the opportunity to meet other science-enthusiasts and skeptics, attend thought-provoking events and participate in fun and enlightening activity.
