Image SUPERNATURAL
A variety of definitions exist for the term supernatural. A literal interpretation is that the term describes any phenomena or experience that is beyond natural explanation and defies the physical laws that govern our universe. Today, the term is often used to describe religious ideas and claims, as distinguished from the term "paranormal" that may describe similar phenomena but may not be associated with what is generally considered religious and may not necessarily be beyond nature or in defiance of physical law. Proponents of the supernatural often refer to the definition "that which lies outside the reality of nature as understood by humankind - with respect to ordinary experience of life on earth." Many synonyms exist although, as with the term paranormal, people are beginning to create distinct definitions for the various realms and subject-matter within the fields of the supernatural and paranormal.
