Image ADAMSKI, GEORGE
(1891-1965)
Adamski is the author of Flying Saucers Have Landed (1953), Inside the Space Ships (1955), and Flying Saucers Farewell (1961). In the books he recounts his travels in outer space with extraterrestrials. He claims to have first been abducted in 1951. Planets visited included Venus, Mars and Saturn, all of which were home to advanced civilizations that imparted secret knowledge and technology to Adamski. Through telepathy and hand signals, Adamski claims the aliens told him that they feared the bomb and were afraid to land in populated areas. He claims also that he was taken to the far side of the Moon where a UFO base can be found amid mountains, cities and rivers. The books became very popular and were translated into many languages.
Skeptical Perspective
Besides the accounts provided in the books, there is no other evidence that Adamski was abducted by aliens and traveled to distant planets within our solar system. In fact, the books read like any science fiction novel and contain no distinguishing element that would warrant the non-fiction genre label. The various physical scenarios described in the books are without explanation and the alleged knowledge shared with Adamski is not provided for testing. They are not possible according to the laws that govern the physical universe. These books can be enjoyed for their stories but should be promoted as true.
