Though a revered scientist in many aspects, Sigmund Freud is also responsible for the origin and popularity of psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is a form of therapy used to treat mental and psychological problems and now involves many different methods and techniques, including "talking out problems," past-life regression, hypnosis, dream interpretation, and others. Many of these techniques have little evidence to show their medical benefit to patients and can often cause dangers to a person's health and well-being.
