The Internet is filled with wild ideas. Why
not bring back a few and tame them with the tools of science
and skepticism?
We challenge you to surf the web for a wacky
idea that is being promoted somewhere in cyberspace. Read
about it, study it, apply your skepticism and critical inquiry
and try to make sense of it. When you think you've figured
it out and can explain what's really going on - and you've
got the evidence to back you up - then you have successfully
tamed the wild! The idea can now be understood and no longer
lives in the realm of clouded mysteries and fuzzy unknowns.
When you think you've tamed the wild - send
us your work and we will publish your findings here and
send you a prize.
We will also be building a list of wild and
wacky ideas we find as we surf the net to include in our Online
Investigations Activity. When someone has tamed one of
the wild ideas on the list, we'll cross it off. Every so often
we'll make a big splash and tell the world about all of the
wild ideas we have tamed (i.e. all the mysteries we've solved,
unknown territory we've conquered, and understanding we've
reached that may be useful to others!)
